ABOUT THE BUILDING > ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

Designed by Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership, Bentall 5 has a strikingly different look from any other office building in the downtown Vancouver core.

The Look
The outside curtain wall is predominantly transparent glass with aluminum mullions and spandrels. The curtain wall has a gentle curve on the east and west corners with an angled reveal moving up the southwest side of the building. This gives the curtain wall a distinctive "cape-like" appearance. A portion of the curtain wall extends above the top floor, creating a cap structure on the roof of the building ideal for crown signage.

Site Orientation
The building is turned 45 degrees, relative to the city street grid. This orientation improves the views to the sides of the adjacent office buildings and creates a more dominant entrance to the building from Burrard Street.

Public Plaza
A public plaza is immediately adjacent to the building on the corner of Burrard and Dunsmuir Streets.

Typical Floor Plate
The typical low-rise floor plate
is approximately 17,500 rentable square feet. It is column free with a depth of approximately 40 feet from core to curtain wall for maximum efficiency. Window mullians are spaced on a five foot ceiling grid.

The typical high-rise floor plate ranges from approximately 17,500 to 18,400 rentable square feet. The high-rise floor plate has a larger rentable area because the low-rise elevator shafts do not penetrate through the upper floors of the building.
